Vehicles driven by electricity are becoming more important day by day. Electrical power is safer and it is the energy source disturbing the balance of the world at least. However, current sources bear serious dangers.
Significant developments are being seen in transportation from the point of view of sizes and models of forklifts, electro-cars and electrical locomotives. Newly designed tracked trucks and vehicles carrying passenger and goods have been added to them.
Tractionary batteries were designed and produced for such vehicles. They are similar to starter batteries from the point of view of basic principle. However, they were so designed that they can work under heavy operational conditions for more time.
CHARGE METHODS FOR INDUSTRIAL BATTERIES
Tractionary batteries should be charged according to working conditions and suitable charge devices should be selected. Generally two types of charge process are practiced in tractionary batteries.
It is long-term charge. Initial current is set as 16 A in a 100 Ah cell. Because cell voltage is 2.4 VA, current is reduced to 4 Amperes and charging process is terminated after 3.5 hours.
It is applied for charging in a short time. Initial current is set as ranging between 20 and 50 Amperes in a 100 Ah cell. Because cell voltage is 2.4 VA, current is reduced to 4 Amperes and charging process is terminated after 4 hours.
